Wayne’s Key Lime Pie
A Summer Favorite from the Certified Pool & Spa Family

Summer weekends are made for relaxing by the pool, spending time with family, and sharing great food with friends.
One of our favorite warm-weather desserts comes from Wayne, who has been making this creamy, refreshing Key Lime Pie for years. It’s cool, simple to make, and always disappears quickly at backyard gatherings.
Whether you’re hosting a pool party, grilling on the patio, or simply enjoying a quiet evening outside, this recipe is the perfect sweet finish.
Wayne’s Famous Key Lime Pie
Ingredients
Crust
- 1 store-bought graham cracker pie crust (or homemade, prepared according to package directions)
Filling
- 1 (8 oz.) package cream cheese, softened
- 1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk
- 1/2–3/4 cup key lime juice (adjust to taste)
- 1 tablespoon fresh lime zest
Whipped Cream
- 1 (32 oz.) carton heavy whipping cream
- 1/4–1/2 cup confectioners’ sugar (to taste)
Optional Garnish
- Fresh lime slices
- Fresh strawberries
- Fresh blueberries
- Additional lime zest
Instructions
Prepare the Crust
If making a homemade graham cracker crust, prepare according to the package directions. If using a store-bought crust, simply set it aside.
Make the Whipped Cream
- Beat the heavy whipping cream until it begins to thicken.
- Gradually add the confectioners’ sugar.
- Continue beating until soft to medium peaks form.
- Set aside. You’ll only need about 4 cups, but extra whipped cream never goes to waste!
Prepare the Filling
- Beat softened cream cheese until smooth.
- Mix in sweetened condensed milk.
- Stir in lime zest.
- Add 1/2 cup key lime juice, then taste and add more if you’d like a tangier pie.
Fold Together
Gently fold 2 cups of whipped cream into the filling until light and fluffy.
Assemble the Pie
Spoon the filling into the prepared crust and smooth the top.
Spread the remaining whipped cream over the pie to your desired thickness.
(According to Wayne, this is usually where the grandkids steal a spoonful.)
Chill
Refrigerate for at least 3 hours, or overnight for the best texture.
Garnish & Serve
Top with fresh lime slices, strawberries, blueberries, additional lime zest—or get creative with your own favorite toppings.
Makes approximately 8 servings.

- Serve well chilled for the creamiest texture.
